Kimberly Denise Jones born in July 11, 1974 in Bedford - Stuyvesant, Brooklyn is an American rapper and actress who rose to fame in the mid 1990s first as a member of the hip hop group Junior M.A.F.I.A. Kim’s debut solo album, Hard Core, sold over 2 million copies in the US alone and earned her a Grammy nomination. Overall her albums have sold over 5 million copies in the US. Kim is the only female rapper, besides Missy Elliott, to have at least 3 platinum albums so far. Kim solidified her star power in 2001, when "Lady Marmalade", a song Kim was featured on became a worldwide hit and went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 making her the first female rapper to have a #1 on that chart. She won Best Female Hip Hop Artist at the 2010 BET Awards.
Because Lil’ Kim is so recognizable, having graced the cover of countless magazine covers, she has become the face for many brands including Old Navy, Candies, and MAC. She has also partnered with brands to create her own lines including a shoe line with Petite Peton and a watch line with Jacob the Jeweler. Companies love to work with Kim because she fully supports the brands she works with via personal appearances as well as newsfeeds on her Twitter account.
She is actively promoting her brand and music in 2013. Her new album drops the middle of 2013, with the first single out in February.
